The program provides residents with an easy, accessible way to divert organic waste from landfills and incinerators, transforming food scraps into nutrient-rich compost. By participating, residents will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills, and contribute to building healthier soils for local communities.

The composting drop-off site will be equipped with a secure, locked toter accessible only to registered subscribers. Participants will use certified compostable bags to deposit their food scraps, making the process clean, odor-free, and convenient. All collected materials will be transported to the AgChoice Commercial Composting facility in Andover, NJ, where they will be processed into high-quality compost.

The Plastic Detox Documentary Screening & Discussion
“The Plastic Detox” Documentary Screening
Synopsis: Released globally on Netflix on March 16, 2026, The Plastic Detox reveals the startling effects plastics and toxic chemicals are having on our bodies and health. This new documentary will help reframe the global plastic problem — a core driver of fossil fuel demand — as an urgent public health issue.
Plastic isn’t just a pollution issue. It’s personal. Microplastics and toxic chemicals are in our brains, our blood, and our unborn children – with health risks linked to rising rates of chronic illnesses like cancer. This chemical exposure is harming millions of people’s fertility and stealing their right to a family. Our bodies are no place for plastic.
Join LivGreen and Lois Kraus and Janette Spiezio from Beyond Plastics NJ to watch a condensed 40minute screening and engage in deeper conversation on how we can shift our relationship with plastic, and how you can participate in a global movement for Plastic Free July.

Combating Artificial Turf : Let’s Get Back to Grass
Combating Artificial Turf : Let’s Get Back to Grass
Join Taylor McFarland, Conservation Program Manager for the Sierra Club New Jersey Chapter, for an insightful presentation on the chapter’s statewide "Back to Grass" campaign. This campaign addresses the rapid expansion of artificial turf across New Jersey, advocating for a return to safe, natural grass playing fields.
Taylor will discuss the environmental and health risks associated with synthetic surfaces, including:
Toxic Chemicals: The presence of PFAS ("forever chemicals") and microplastics that can leach into local groundwater.
Extreme Heat: How artificial fields can reach temperatures exceeding to on warm days, posing safety risks to athletes.
Waste Issues: The challenges of disposing of 500,000 pounds of plastic once a field reaches its 8-to-10-year lifespan.
And more.
The session will also cover legislative efforts such as Bill S3254, which aims to prohibit the use of State Green Acres funding for artificial turf development, and how residents can promote sustainable recreation in their own communities.

Passaic River Cleanup
Passaic River Cleanup
Team-up with Great Swamp Watershed Association (GSWA) and Roots & Shoots for our first-ever full Passaic River cleanup in honor of world-renowned environmentalist and conservationist, Jane Goodall!
We’ve identified multiple local parks and dry land sites along the Passaic River that could use some attention and now we need your help to pick up the trash. When trash collects in these areas along the stream banks, it will eventually make its way into the water, polluting the river and impacting local wildlife. These types of cleanups make a big impact on the health of the river as a whole.
